6/12/85 - Out in the field by 8am. Weather is beautiful and there is little vegetation to hinder measured sections. Last night we got into Mariscal campground early and had a rousing bonfire. Saw lots of cowhands on the other side of the river.

Mariscal Mountain is as classic an anticline as we have ever seen. The Rio Grande cuts a deep canyon in the south and it plunges into the ground right a the Mariscal Mountain Mercury Mine.

Dr. Ehlmann was up to classic form. He started by asking if “There were any scientific questions?” and then made a few comments about his brilliant dalmation, Zorba. He also made a few comments about ‘idiots and small dogs’ but I don’t remember who he was talking about.
Welcome!
Welcome to the TCU Department of Geology Alumni News Page. Please have a look at the diverse and impressive achievements of our alumni over the years. If you are an alumnus and are not included on the page, please send us your information (please send information to Dr. Busbey). Photos are also most welcome. If you are in the area, please drop by the department for a visit. We now house the world-class Monnig Meteorite Gallery, which is worth the trip in itself. We also have a new GIS/Remote Sensing lab, with some impressive capabilities. Some of the faces have changed here over the years, but our goal is to continue the same tradition of strong teaching and scholarship in a student-oriented environment. We hope to see more alumni at our annual Christmas and Spring banquets. If you are on our mailing list, you will receive news about these and other departmental activities.
